New Shirts: Why Pre-Ordering?

I’ve recently done a couple of pre-order sales here on my site. Having a shirt-design available for pre-order for one week, then never again, for instance. And I thought I’d take a quick minute to explain what it is and why I’ve chosen to do it that way.

At one stage, I was running my webstore with all the shirts in stock. I thought it meant I believed in the designs enough to invest in them (or something like that?). But I was running out of sizes super-fast and being stuck with mostly smalls (and no larges for example). The pre-order method allows anyone who wants one, to get one in their size, and then the shirts are made and printed to order. It also means I have less stray items at the studio, making less clutter, which is good for my soul.

The downside is that it takes a little bit longer. It adds about two weeks to the process, which sucks but does allow me extra time to work on bonus goods. Stickers and badges and all kinds of fun stuff. I try to taste-match the stickers and “extra stuff” that comes with a shirt or print.

Anyway, I’m enjoying the process a lot more. And am open to whatever feedback and ideas you’ve got. It also means I get to pack and post ALL THE ORDERS AT ONCE. The post office hates me.

That said, I recently got a bunch of these FUCK YOU prints done after they exploded on instagram. They’re all printed and ready and numbered and signed and available in my store right now.
